We’ve been treated to some inspirational and sometimes heart-breaking sporting events so far this summer, including seeing 18 year old Emma Raducanu play some truly inspirational tennis at her first Wimbledon and watching England battle their way to the finals of the Euros.
Each of these events has inspired us all and it’s been wonderful to see an increase in all age groups knocking a ball around at the park, wanting to be the next Rashford, Kane or Saka.
Now we have the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics to keep us inspired; we’ve already started to see the medals roll in for Adam Peaty (swimming), Tom Daley and Matty Lee (diving) and Tom Pidcock (mountain biking).
All these athletes have demonstrated dedication, resilience, passion, self-belief and teamwork. What amazing role models!
One to watch is Sky Brown, one of the most exciting personalities in skateboarding. She’ll be Great Britain’s youngest ever Olympian when she competes. Despite being only 13 years old when she drops into the purpose-built skate-park for the Olympics, Sky’s outstanding skills make her one of the favourites for the podium.
So, now is the time to get inspired, get active and have a go!
